Read My New Book. . . First!
One of the most important parts of prepping a new book for publication is honest reader feedback. The author knows the characters, their motivations, their movements on and off the page. . . everything. So, it’s not surprising that the author typically understands how the story is intended to fall together. But, do the readers understand? Did I, as an author, do a comprehensive enough job putting the pieces together?
That’s where a team of early (or “beta”) readers comes in. Many experienced authors have a select group of fans and colleagues who love to be the first to read the initial draft of a new novel or story. The reader gets a free, early copy of the work, and all the author asks for in return is honest feedback about the characters, pacing, and so on.
Are you interested in joining my team of beta readers? Just drop me a note using the form below and let me know what genres you prefer. Recently I’ve focused on mysteries, but my next series will be a more modern set of thrillers.
Not every beta reader gets every book. . . I usually pick out only four or five at a time and then rotate the group. So, if you don’t see something in your in box this month, you might be on the list for the next title!
Any questions? I’d be happy to answer them for you, and I look forward to hearing from you soon!
